biography
I am a dedicated artist whose
bright, playful work takes food - with a current emphasis on
cakes, pastries and other desserts - as the subject matter for
contemporary paintings. I favor the thickly textured impasto
technique, finding inspiration from my studies with renowned
California plein-air colorist Camille Przewodek, and my
life-long admiration of Wayne Thiebaud's works.
After graduating from Gonzaga
University, my career began as a graphic artist serving as art
director for several magazines, including San Francisco.
I later became a designer of upscale catalogues working with
clients around the country. Over the last decade, I have
transitioned from the commercial arena into the fine arts.
A third-generation San Franciscan,
and now resident of Marin County, art has always been a part of
my life. People say my paintings make them smile, and I'm
delighted they have that effect.
