Still
made by the same family of artists, each piece is
artfully crafted from wood often harvested and milled 50
to 100 years ago. Salvaged from houses, factories and
industrial flooring, the wood has been naturally
distressed and seasoned in sunny
California
for decades, giving it a textured beauty and integrity.
From
side tables to armoires, each article of furniture has
its own character. Details like metal pulls and latches
are all reclaimed from antiques or custom-crafted in a
local work shop. Even the non-toxic paints the artists
use are discontinued colors salvaged from non-commercial
sources. In the end, each finished design is a singular
piece of functional art that can flavor any setting by
blending in or creating an exciting juxtaposition of
styles. Individual pieces can be custom ordered to
accommodate a particular décor.
To
further spice up a favorite space, the artists also
craft picture frames and mirrors from recycled woods and
distressed copper and steel. Each piece is inspired by
the materials at hand. Even the glass is reclaimed.
Rustic, fun and environmentally thoughtful, the finished
work has a folk art feel but makes a contemporary
statement.
Wholesome,
quality materials artfully crafted into works of
functional art—and nothing to compromise the planet.
