newest artist, member
Erin Lee Gafill, with a one woman show,
"Fracturing of Light"

Art Festival (Chattanooga Tennessee) and Spring for
Art (Covington,
Louisiana) Erin is painting up a storm this weekend
in the prestigious Carmel Art Festival Plein Air
contest. Erin's award winning paintings are noted
for their luminous use of color and original
brushstrokes and
"fracturing" of light.
The great great
granddaughter of Carmel's first artist, Jane
Gallatin Powers, Erin carries on the tradition
with landscape, abstraction, and color-rich still
lifes painted "alla prima" and inspired by her life
in the old log house at Nepenthe Restaurant where
she lives and works. A noted teacher, Erin is on the
creative arts faculty of Esalen Institute and Rancho
La Puerta and is the author of an inspirational
memoir, "Drinking From a Cold Spring, a Little Book
of Hope," and will be on hand to sign her book
during the event
